Can Selling Supplements Really Make a Difference to

my Fitness Business?

Hi everyone! I hope you’ve had a great October, made lots of money, attracted dozens of new clients and got some great results for them too.

I want to talk today about something that a lot of Fit Pros out there have heard of but are afraid of doing – selling supplements. There’s a real uncertainty behind whether people ‘should’ sell or are ‘qualified’ to sell supplements, and if they do what are the real benefits anyway?

Whats the Benefits to Your Customer?

Talking from an average customers point of view there’s still a real stigma around taking supplements because they are tainted with the reputation of dodgy ‘diet pills’ or steroids or illegal substances in general that are presumed to be not only ‘bad’ but only appropriate for professional athletes anyway.

I recently started taking supplements myself and am absolutely AMAZED by the results. In just 2 months the ‘up’ and ‘down’ of my weight depending on what I ate the day before and if I skipped training a couple of times that week has really steadied out. Yeah for sure I need to keep exercising and eat well but it seems like the supplements have ‘balanced’ my body out so there’s no major ups and downs in terms of my weight anymore.

Basically what I’m saying is – I’m a fan. And I want to know how the hell was I in the fitness industry for 6 years and didn’t know what a massive impact supplements can have on the results of your training?

How Does Selling Supplements Benefit You?

This is the kind of GOLD information that needs to be presented to your customers and potential customers as a KEY part of their fitness regime. And as such, this can really set you aside from your competitors as you are providing an extra service recommending and selling supplements AND you will get them better results as well which in turn will mean they will stay with you longer and pay you more money as they are satisfied customers.

And on top of all that – you can make extra money from the supplement sales as well.

I really believe we are in a time where we need to make people understand that there is a ‘magic pill’ out there that along with a good diet and exercise will massively enhance the results you get from your exercise.

Supplements are becoming more and more mainstream and there’s not a single Fit Pro out there that can say “This isn’t right for my client base – they just aren’t interested in this sort of thing”. If you explain to them that all the hard work they put in during your sessions and all the willpower they use to avoid that glass of wine on a Friday night will be maximised even further by taking this stuff, then they will buy it in a heartbeat.

How Do I Find the Right Supplement?

For supplements I really believe you shouldn’t be out there promoting something you haven’t tried yourself. I’m not writing this to recommend certain products as I don’t think that’s fair but do a bit of research and see what works best.

If you’re not comfortable buying the supplements and then selling them on at a higher price then why not become an affiliate for a local store that sells supplements and they give you say 30% of the sales from everyone you refer to them? One of my top level mentoring clients went a step further with this last month and actually put together a basic fat loss supplement package that consisted of 3 different products from his local health food shop. He put his name on it, put posters up in the shop saying as the Local Fat Loss Expert this is the package he recommends with a link to his website. He gets 30% of every single sale.

Or if you really want to go for this, then I recommend you take a training course that teaches you how to assess peoples body’s and needs and then ‘prescribe’ them a supplement profile which you sell to them directly. These supplements are usually provided by the company you did the training course with so you have their knowledge behind you. Again I’m not going to recommend anyone specifically but do a little research, ask around in the fitness industry and a couple of names will stand out for you to research.

Win:Win

My advice is, if you don’t already, you should start selling supplements to your customers. Its a WIN:WIN situation. They get better results and you make more money and have happy customers.

Take the plunge and enjoy!
